Lady's Finger -Health Benefits

Lady's finger scientific name Abelmoschus esculentus, known in many English

speaking countries as ladies finger or ochre is a flowering plant in the mallow family.


Recipe:
Ingredient:

lady's finger - 250gm

onion -2

green chili -1

coconut grated - 3 spoon

mustard and urad dal - 1 teaspoon

curry leaves

curd 1spoon

salt as required


Method:


1. Wash the lady's finger thoroughly in water. And slice into small pieces.



2. Keep a pan on the stove and pour 2 tablespoons of refined oil and add mustard

 and urad dal, when mustard crackled, then add onion, and chili,  and stir it well.



3. Then add sliced lady's finger, curd, and salt, and then stir it until it's cooked well.



4. when it is cooked well then add grated coconut. now the lady's finger poriyal is ready.

1. Lady's Finger is rich in Vitamin C

Lady's Finger has been shown to help fight off colds and flu viruses. A study

 conducted at the University of Maryland showed that eating a lady's fingers could

 reduce the number of cold and flu symptoms. Other studies have shown that 

vitamin C may help prevent heart disease and stroke. 
  
2. Lady's Finger contains Vitamins B-6 and E

Vitamin B-6 helps convert food into fuel for our bodies. Vitamin E is known for its

 antioxidant properties and is believed to protect cells from damage caused by free

 radicals. Both vitamins work together to keep us healthy.

3. Lady's Finger is high in Fiber

Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that cannot be digested by humans. It is necessary

 for proper digestion and elimination. Eating foods rich in fiber can help lower

 cholesterol levels and improve bowel function.

4. Lady's Finger is High in Iron

Iron is an important mineral that helps carry oxygen throughout the body. It is also

 involved in many bodily processes including DNA synthesis and protein production.

 Women need about 18mg of iron per day while men require 8 mg.

5. Lady's Finger is Low in Sodium

Sodium is a mineral that is present in table salt. Too much sodium can cause fluid

 retention and hypertension(high blood pressure). Foods high in sodium include

 processed meats, canned vegetables, and fast foods.
