1. Insulin Resistance

Insulin resistance is the first step toward diabetes. When insulin levels drop, glucose levels

 rise. Glucose is the primary fuel for cells. If the body does not produce enough insulin, then

 glucose cannot enter the cells and stays in the bloodstream. In time, if insulin resistance 

continues, the pancreas may have to work harder to make more insulin. Eventually, the 

pancreas becomes exhausted and produces less insulin than normal.

2. Obesity

Obesity is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Overweight people tend to have

 higher insulin levels than those who are leaner. Fat cells take up more space than

 muscle cells. As far as cells expand, they crowd out the space where insulin-

producing beta cells should live.

3. Genetics

Some people inherit genes that cause them to develop diabetes at a young age.

 Other people develop diabetes later in life after having children. Still, others

 develop diabetes only after being overweight for years.

4. Diet

A high-fat diet contributes to obesity and increases the risk of developing diabetes.

 Eating foods that are high in sugar and refined grains also contributes to weight

 gain and diabetes.

5. Stress

Stress affects the body's production of hormones that regulate appetite and blood

 sugar. People who experience chronic stress often eat more food than usual and

 feel hungrier. They also tend to crave sweets and salty snacks.

              'Carbohydrates' are an essential nutrient in the food we eat. Such is the case with


protein and fat. Apart from these, various vitamins, mineral salts, some subtle metals and


water is essential for the human body. 'Carbohydrate' (food changes). Absorbed and


carbohydrate nutrients are very essential for the human body. It is present in the diet in three


stages monosaccharide, disaccharide, and polysaccharide. Provides energy to various body


tissues. When we consume too much 'carbohydrate' food, the remaining glucose is stored in

stored in the liver is converted into glucose, which joins the blood and gives us the energy

Therefore, the carbohydrates in the food we eat are converted into glucose and


give us the energy we need. That energy is what we call calories.



one gram of carbohydrate provides 4 calories of energy. For example, if the total calories a

person needs daily is 1800 then 45% of those calories should come from carbohydrate-type

foods. That means 810 calories should be available from a carbohydrate diet. 0.45 x 1800 =

810 calories. We found that one gram of carbohydrate is enough to give 4 calories. Therefore,

810/4 = 202.5 g. That person consumes about 200 grams of carbohydrate food daily and

when he consumes protein and other fatty food he gets all the calories he needs. Intake will

also, be adequate. If the afternoon rate is 200g of carbohydrates in the morning and the

patient consumes 4 times 50 g in the evening-night and his carbohydrate intake for one day
